Product and publisher
Clipkeep is a free clipboard manager for Windows and macOS. It keeps a searchable history of the text you copy, stored only on your own computer. The program is published by Clipkeep Software AB and this website is its only official download source.
Version 1.0.0 is the first public release. The program comes as a ZIP file rather than an installer and is not yet code-signed, so your computer will show a security warning the first time you open it. That is expected – the Help page shows exactly what to click on each system.
System requirements
- Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
- macOS 12 or later
- About 300 MB of disk space when unzipped
- No internet connection needed – before, during or after installation
- No administrator rights needed if you unzip to your own folders
Clipkeep is a lightweight program that spends most of its time in the system tray (Windows) or menu bar (macOS). It checks the clipboard about once a second and otherwise idles, using very little memory.
Cost and limitations
The program is completely free. No features are locked. No account, payment or internet connection is required to use it. There is no automatic update check.
Permissions, data and system changes
- The program reads the clipboard in order to save your text history. History is saved in a file in your user folder and never leaves your computer.
- The program makes no network requests and collects no usage data.
- Ctrl/⌘ + Shift + V is registered as a global shortcut while the program runs.
- The program keeps running in the system tray / menu bar when the window is closed. Quit it from the tray menu.
- Optional setting (off by default): start at login.
Choose your version
Delivered as a ZIP file – no installer. Unzip it and run Clipkeep. The program is not yet code-signed, so Windows and macOS will show a warning the first time you open it. See Help for how to open it.
Which Mac version do I need?
Macs come with two kinds of processors, and each needs its own download. To check yours, open the Apple menu in the top-left corner and choose About This Mac:
- “Chip: Apple M1 / M2 / M3 / M4” – choose macOS – Apple Silicon.
- “Processor: Intel” – choose macOS – Intel.
If you pick the wrong one the program simply will not start – nothing breaks. Delete it and download the other version instead.
What is in the ZIP?
Each ZIP contains the program and nothing else – no installer, no extra software, no bundled offers:
- Windows: a folder with
Clipkeep.exeand its supporting files. Keep the folder together – the program needs all of its files. - macOS: a single
Clipkeep.appthat you drag to Applications.
Your clipboard history is not stored in these files. It lives separately in your user folder, so replacing the program (for example when updating) never touches your clips.
Version history
